Day 24: Tuesday 3/17
READ: James 5:14-15
If any of you are sick, they should call for the elders of the church, and the elders should pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. Prayer that comes from faith will heal the sick, for the Lord will restore them to health. And if they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
REFLECT
Sickness requires community. James doesn't say "pray privately and pull yourself together." He says call the elders, get connected, ask for help. Let the church pray with you, anoint you, believe with you. This is embodied faith—anointing with oil, laying on hands, praying in faith together. And notice: healing and forgiveness come together. We can't separate physical healing from spiritual wholeness from communal restoration.
RESPOND
If you're struggling — physically, emotionally, spiritually — tell someone and ask them to pray. Don't perform independence. Don't carry it alone.
PRAY
God who heals through community, give us courage to ask for help and faith to believe you work through us for each other. Amen.
