Day 23: Monday 3/16
READ: James 5:13
If any of you are suffering, they should pray. If any of you are happy, they should sing.
REFLECT
Prayer isn't just for emergencies. It's the rhythm of faithful life. Trouble? Pray—not just for rescue, but for faithfulness in the trouble. Happy? Sing—not as escape, but as resistance, as testimony that empire doesn't get the last word. James assumes that prayer is our first response, not our last resort. Whether we're struggling or celebrating, we turn to God. This is what it means to live in constant dependence on the One who sustains us.
RESPOND
Whatever emotion you're feeling right now—trouble, joy, rage at injustice, gratitude for survival—turn it into prayer. Don't edit for piety.
PRAY
God who hears, teach us to pray without ceasing—in trouble and in joy, in resistance and in rest. Meet us in every moment. Amen.
