Day 26: Thursday 3/19
READ: James 5:19-20
My brothers and sisters, if any of you wander from the truth and someone turns back the wanderer, 20 recognize that whoever brings a sinner back from the wrong path will save them from death and will bring about the forgiveness of many sins.
REFLECT
James ends his letter with a call to restore the wandering. But who's really wandering? Sometimes "wandering from truth" means surviving under empire—making compromises to stay alive, going silent to stay safe, accommodating to keep a job. This isn't judgment or superiority. It's love that pursues without condemning, that understands survival strategies while still inviting people back to resistance and truth. This is risky, tender work that requires relationship, humility, and courage. But it's worth it.
RESPOND
Is there someone who's wandering — not from laziness but from exhaustion or fear? How might you come alongside rather than correct?
PRAY
God who understands our wandering, give us love that pursues without condemning, that invites back to resistance and truth with compassion for what survival has cost. Amen.
