Every Sunday, we gather together for liturgy; this happens at Miner Elementary School as well as via our YouTube page. Our hope for our Sunday gatherings is that they would be a microcosm of the rest of our lives: where we give to and serve one another, experience connection with God and with one another, and remember and remind one another of the promises of God, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit.
What to Expect: When we gather for our services on Sundays, for about an hour, we engage in practices of worship, confession, prayer, scripture, and communion. We’re fairly relaxed, so show up as you are! There is plenty of parking at Miner.
In-person at Miner Elementary (601 15th St NE) or online at 10:30 am on Sundays.
COVID Precautions for In-person Services
We are implementing the following changes and safety measures in order to keep everyone safe and to care for our community.
We ask that everyone over the age of two who worships with us wears a mask. Masks are essential in diminishing the spread of COVID, especially indoors, and is one of the ongoing mitigation strategies that DCPS has implemented with the return to in-person learning.
We ask that those attending worship with us either RSVP ahead of time at go.christcitydc.org/register or to register upon arrival on Sunday. The weekly registration rosters will allow us to execute contact tracing in the event of a positive COVID case. In our conversations with the Mayor’s Office of Religious Affairs and other DC area churches, Sunday registration has proven to be a helpful best practice.
Starting October 24, our agreement with DCPS requires that everyone over the age of 18 be fully vaccinated in order to worship with us in-person at Miner Elementary School. Those under 18 are not required to be vaccinated to attend. For those unable to attend in person for any reason, we will continue to stream our services each week on our YouTube channel.
Social Distancing and Air Quality
Two additional steps have been taken to ensure our services are as safe as we can make them. First, DCPS has invested heavily into the HVAC systems at Miner to ensure that the air quality in the school is able to filter the air that may be contaminated with airborne particles. Miner has also installed a HEPA filter in the cafeteria for additional filtration.
When we gather, the seating will be spaced in such a way as to provide 3 to 6 feet of distance. This degree of social distancing is in keeping with DCPS’s guidance to schools for classrooms, cafeterias, hallways, etc. So, when you arrive you will notice that the seating arrangement includes additional distance between rows and additional distance between the front rows and the staging area.
